Summary
The Security/Door Person is responsible for protecting the experience inside Good Judy’s and her sister organizations. Every shift begins at the front door. You’re the first person guests meet and often the last person they see when they leave. Your ability to welcome people warmly while maintaining awareness, enforcing policies consistently, and recognizing potential issues before they become problems directly shapes the atmosphere of the venue. This role is equal parts hospitality, customer service, conflict prevention, and safety. We are looking for individuals with good judgment, emotional maturity, and the ability to remain composed in situations where others may not. The objective isn’t simply to remove problems, it’s to prevent them whenever possible.
Responsibilities
Guest Arrival
- Welcome guests with professionalism and respect
- Verify identification and admission requirements
- Monitor occupancy and entrance flow
- Recognize suspicious behavior before admission
- Ensure every guest begins their visit with a positive experience.
Maintaining a Safe Environment
- Continuously observe activity throughout the venue
- Identify behaviors that could impact guest safety or enjoyment
- Address concerns early through communication and presence
- Assist staff whenever guest behavior begins affecting operations
- Protect employees, entertainers, contractors, vendors, and guests
Conflict Prevention
- Resolve situations using communication before they escalate
- Remain calm during emotionally charged interactions
- Separate individuals when necessary
- Request assistance from management whenever appropriate
- Remove individuals only when necessary and in accordance with company procedures
Venue Operations
- Monitor entrances, exits, patios, and surrounding property
- Ensure emergency exits remain clear
- Assist with crowd movement during busy periods
- Conduct periodic walkthroughs of the venue
- Assist with opening and closing procedures
Incident Documentation
- Document noteworthy incidents accurately and objectively
- Immediately notify the Person-In-Charge of emergencies or significant concerns
- Cooperate with emergency responders when required
- Preserve professionalism throughout every interaction
Qualifications
Required:
At least 21 years of age
- Able to work Evenings, Weekends, Holidays, and Special Events
- Reliable transportation
- Able to remain composed under pressure
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Willingness to "float" when needed to sister venues
Preferred:
- Experience in hospitality, nightlife, customer service, public safety, or event operations
- Existing CPR/First Aid Certification
Physical Requirements
Applicants should be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
This position regularly requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time, often for the duration of an entire shift.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, including cases of beer, liquor, ice, kegs (with assistance when appropriate), tables, chairs, and other supplies.
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, twist, and climb while performing assigned duties.
- Work quickly and safely in crowded, fast-paced, and sometimes loud environments.
- Use hands and arms continuously
- Communicate effectively with guests and coworkers in environments with elevated noise levels.
- Work in varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions during special events, festivals, patios, and venue operations.
- Respond quickly to changing situations, including emergencies and guest service needs.
- Safely navigate wet floors, uneven surfaces, stairs, and crowded spaces while carrying beverages, supplies, or equipment.
Work Environment
This position regularly involves:
- Evening, late-night, weekend, and holiday work.
- Exposure to loud music, theatrical lighting, fog or haze effects, and crowded entertainment environments.
- Frequent interaction with alcohol service and intoxicated guests.
- High levels of guest interaction throughout every shift.
- A team-oriented environment where flexibility and adaptability are essential

Schedule
Most shifts occur on Friday and Saturday Nights from 9:30pm - 1:30am. Some additional requests may occur based on the events.
Compensation
- $15.00 per hour with a 4 hour guaranteed minimum.
